Chaplin – The movie pattern practice

It has been a while since we posted our last blogpost. But not without a reason. Today I am happy to share our thoughts on where we have worked on the last year. Start discovering doing product development in our organisation we felt the need of a more scaleable idea of doing software development. The result is Chaplin (The Movie Pattern Practice). Chaplin is not new, it is using a bunch of patterns and practices you are all familiar with. It does skip a lot of "best" practices as well. It is trying to find that hotspot between describing software and developing it. Chaplin is definitely not the solution for everything. It’s there to start a conversation to simplify things in your all day development process. It is a way of thinking which we like to share with the world.

It really shows it’s power when data from (external) sources is flowing through your software. When you like to start small and want to scale your solution into a more full feature package into the future.

Two students, Sally Uwimana and Deveny Appelmans, helped me out to get my thoughts organized into a nice infographic during their minor "Digital Technology Playground" at the Avans University of Applied Science. This infographic is the first piece of content we like to share around Chaplin.

Marvelous has created a .net core framework based on Chaplin. Curious!? Do not hesitate to contact us. We are happy to share and will certainly do using this blog in the future.

The infographic is published under the CC BY 4.0 license, this allows you to share and adapt for free, forever.
